Our latest rescue was 6 birds who were previous breeders. The person who surrendered them bought out an existing breeder and in doing so, got these retired breeders. They are all 20+years old, some are much older. Some of them had been wild caught and all of them have been plucked either by themselves or their mate. They will be rehabilitated with hopes to find them adoptable homes. Thank you to M C Birds for helping with this rescue! Together we rescued the birds below.
Our Latest Rescues

Meet Chrissy and Kalvin, a retired Red Lored Amazon pair. They are 20-30 years old. As you can see they are a little plucked but naked birds need love too!

This Mitred Conure came with out a name. He was wild caught and has an import band on his leg which means he is 20+years old.

This Goffins Cockatoo I decided to name. I named her Alinea and I will call her Ali (Alley) for short. Alinea means basically a new train of thought and I figured since she is going to be starting a new life it fit perfectly. She is also plucked as you can see in the pictures above, some was from her previous mate and some she did herself. Steps are being taken to improve the plucking behavior and get her life back on track. She is also 20+years old, and a wild caught bird.

This Hahns Macaw also came with out a name. She does not have a band so her age is unknown however, her mate had a band that dated 1984.

This Blue Crown Conure also came with out a name. He was also wild caught, he has an import band so his age is 20+years.

This is Malachi, a Severe Macaw. I tracked his leg band and found out his history. He was born July 2, 2000 by a breeder in Florida who is no longer in business. He only had one pair of Severes that produced babies for them. They sold them to a popular parrot food company who then distributed the babies to large chain pet stores. Malachi was passed from store to store where they shook the cage and he became very cage aggressive. A woman who worked there bought him and Malachi fell in love with her. Due to pregnancy she gave him to a friend who had birds, his latest owner. Malachi did not settle in there and was unhappy. They had him for 5-6 years and he was never really able to be handled. I am now able to get him out of the cage and handle him without problem.

Bob is a Green Wing Macaw and he came from the same owner that Malachi came from. He is now in his forever home with one of my fosters who did an assisted adoption through me with an Umbrella Cockatoo. He is doing very well and just went for a beak and nail trim.

This beautiful girl is Lola who was surrendered by a family who couldn't spend as much time as they would have liked to with her. She was afraid of her previous owner and was just not happy in her situation and that is why her people decided to find her a new home. I was full at the time so I called M.C. Birds who came down and took her back up to Michigan. Crystal will be working on her plucking, aggression and other behavioral problems.
UPDATE: Lola is doing wonderful! She is stepping up and some of her feathers have come in. She is now on a healthy diet and enjoying her life with Crystal and her family.

This is Mr. Molly, a Blue and Gold who has had a very rough life. Molly originally came from an animal cruelty raid where she was found lying at the bottom of her cage without feathers, and part of her beak missing due to infection. She was curled around a bell toys that she still has to this day. An officer involved in the case decided to take Molly home a try to nurse her back to health. This officer was also involved very much in the church. Molly learned some profanities and decided that the best time to scream them at the top of her lungs was in the church and in front of the minister. So, Molly needed to find a new home. Molly was rehomed to her previous owner, who also had 2 Cockatoos, a Quaker Parrot and 2 Cockatiels. Due to allergies, she needed to find her birds homes. Molly was quite a handful and she was unable to sell her. Molly is very bird aggressive and attacked the woman's cockatoo. Molly is now residing in Michigan with a very good friend of mine.

This sweet boy is Snickers, and the Quaker is Clinton. They were both taken good care of but Snickers as you can see has a plucking issue. This previous owners could not get him to stop and they have tried everything...I know several tricks they haven't tried but to their immediate knowledge they have tried everything. He has been on a seed diet and the Quaker, Clinton who likes men has been on a Roudybush Diet. Snickers is very nervous and he started plucking when the family went out of town about 3 years ago and boarded him. After that he will grow back his feathers and they will leave for the weekend and he will pluck all of his feathers out again. I am happy that he is not plucking down to the skin, however, he has 1 tail feather.

Meet Stan, her legs are plucked but she was very, very friendly and I am very happy about that. She will be very adoptable. The foster came to see her today and they just fell in love. Hopefully they will get along so well and she will want to adopt her. I gave the foster two large cages for this little girl. She is very beautiful despite her naked legs.
