Educational Presentations

I have done educational presentation for High Schools, Colleges, Churches and Bible Camps as well as other festivals or events to educate people about birds and what rescues do. I have demonstrated grooming and proper restraint techniques as well as tell about each birds general back ground. I only bring birds to presentations who are confident birds that I have used before, I would never allow a bird to come to a presentation if it would compromise it's health or mental stability.

How our presentations work:
I prefer to be indoors as the birds would have to be contained in a carrier or a travel cage for out door presentations and I would be unable to fully demonstrate with each bird. I will go from bird to bird and tell their history and the situation they came out of as well as how far they have come, and what rehabilitation measures have been taken. I then talk about bird behavior and body language as well as life spans, reasons people find their birds a home, proper diets and other general information.

Can we hold or touch the birds?
Unfortunately, No. Each bird has had a rough life and they have gained trust with me. Not every bird is accustomed to being held by strangers. For safety reasons, we do not allow anyone to touch or get with in "lunging distance" of the birds. A Macaw has a bite of 350 pounds of pressure per square inch which can break a broomstick in half. For this reason, we don't want any finger or other body parts near our birds.
Also, many avian diseases are spread through close contact. A person may have come in contact with a bird with a disease and by handling our birds could pass that disease along to them.

How much does it cost to do have you do a presentation?
The presentations are on a donation basis. I do not "charge" the typical hour by hour charge. If you can give us a donation for transport and to help us maintain our birds, that would be great.

If you would like to contact us with question or to schedule a presentation please call or send us an email.
