2. After a 48 hour period (depending on how busy we are, if we do not email you after 4 days please contact us again incase the email failed to send) we will email you with the results of the application. Denied or Approved.
3. Once approved we will call you to set up an in home interview, and we will conduct several phone interviews.
4. Once a home visit/interview is completed we will discuss the option of fostering a bird in our care and what species will best fit your family/house hold.
5. You must meet the bird a minimum of 3 times before you are allowed to foster a bird.
6. You are responsible for the adoption fee prior to fostering which will be held until the adoption is final.
Due to the amount of calls I am getting each day; please do not call to ask if we have a certain species up for adoption but not listed. Please read the adoption process page BEFORE you call, most question that people have are on the adoption process page and birds up for adoption page. All of the birds that are available for adoption or are going to be available will be listed on the adoption page. If we do not have a species that you are looking for at that time, fill out an application and you will be put on a waiting list for that species.

Due to the amount of Emergency Surrenders without supplies, cages or vet work; Adoption fees needed to be raised to help cover some of those costs. Donations are always appreciated to help keep fees low. The fluctuation in fees depends on if birds come with or without supplies. However, many birds are surrendered without cages, or inappropriate cages and we must provide one. YOU need to be responsible for providing a cage for the bird you would like to adopt, unless you are otherwise informed. Some additional fees may be added for additional expenses such as emergency vet care, cages and supplies.
The Bird Nerds reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone that we don't find suitable for a particular bird. We ask that you don't take it personally. Our MAIN concern is our birds health, welfare and happiness. We always try to let our birds pick their people instead of the other way around. If the bird you want to adopt doesn't seem to connect with you, we won't adopt him/her out.
